1999.

Kingdom of Morocco.

Volubilis: the ancient capital of the kingdom of Mauritania.

Alesa and I haggled with the taxi drivers who, amongst themselves, were haggling how much to rip us off. It was a 45min ride; we could spend 30 minutes there.

I had a plan.

I would shoot Polaroid Type 665 to have both a print and a negative.

Since I was backpacking, I thought I could place the negs in a CD book until I could wash them later in the sink at the hostel. This proved to be an error. The negatives were ruined.

18 years later, I saw something.

I excavated the negatives, scanned them, and found an odd beauty within my initial ‘mistake’. The destruction of a ‘perfect’ negative had created an unforeseen beauty.
